The World IP Day 2025 Youth Video Competition is now accepting entries, spotlighting the vital role of music and intellectual property (IP) rights in shaping our lives. This global competition invites individuals and groups to submit 60 to 90-second videos that explore the interplay between music, IP rights, innovation, and creativity in building the future.

This year’s theme, Tuning in with the Music of Innovation and Creativity,” encourages participants to consider the impact of IP rights on fostering creativity and innovation in the music industry. These rights empower creators, inventors, and entrepreneurs by providing them with the tools and protections needed to bring their ideas to life, fostering a culture of creativity and innovation. Innovation continues to shape the evolution of music, pushing boundaries and inspiring new forms of expression.

How to Enter

  1. Submit your video entry by March 16, 2025, 23:59 CET.
  2. From April 4 to April 14, 2025, join the public in voting for the People’s Choice Prize, even if you didn’t submit a video!
  3. Tune in on April 25, 2025, for the announcement of the winners.

Eligibility

  • Entries may be submitted individually or as part of a group, but not both.
  • Individuals must be between 18 and 35 years old at the time of submission.
  • Groups can have up to 10 members, with at least one participant aged 35 or younger at the time of entry.

Video Themes

Submissions should highlight the ways in which creativity, innovation, and IP rights contribute to a brighter future for creators, inventors, and entrepreneurs. Possible themes include:

  • Rhythm that Inspires: Show how music, innovation, and creativity transform lives, build connections, and spark new opportunities.
  • Changemakers: Highlight the efforts of artists, musicians, innovators, and entrepreneurs shaping the future of music locally and globally.
  • Voices for IP: Share stories of advocates promoting IP rights in the music industry and their role in empowering creators to build sustainable careers.

Submission Requirements

  • Videos must be 60 to 90 seconds long and in MP4 format.
  • Submissions should not include subtitles or captions but may feature audio narration in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish.
  • Entries must be original, unpublished online, and not previously awarded in any other competition.
  • Background music, if used, must be accompanied by proof of authorization.
  • Videos must respect all applicable intellectual property and proprietary rights.

Judging Criteria

A jury will evaluate all submissions and create a shortlist of the top 20 entries. From these, the top three winners will be chosen based on criteria such as originality, creativity, adherence to the theme, messaging, and visual impact.

People’s Choice Prize

Shortlisted videos will be part of an online public vote to determine the winner of the People’s Choice Prize. Voting will be open from April 4 to April 14, 2025, 23:59 CEST, with each voter allowed up to five votes to support their favorite entries.

Announcement of Winners

The winners will be revealed on the competition’s website on April 25, 2025, and the results will also be shared through various digital platforms. All decisions by WIPO and the competition jury are final.
