Every year, on March 15, the global community comes together to celebrate World Consumer Rights Day, an occasion dedicated to raising awareness about consumer rights and advocating for fair, safe, and sustainable markets. In 2025, the theme for this important day is “A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.” This theme underscores the need for inclusive and equitable solutions that empower consumers to make sustainable choices without compromising affordability, accessibility, or fairness.
In alignment with this year’s theme, ANEC – The European consumer voice in standardisation has launched a dedicated campaign titled “How Standards Contribute to Sustainable Lifestyle Choices.” This initiative highlights the critical role that standards play in shaping a more sustainable future, ensuring that consumers have access to reliable, safe, and environmentally friendly products and services.

By promoting the integration of sustainability into consumer standards, ANEC aims to support the transition towards greener lifestyles while ensuring that consumer rights remain protected. A just transition means that sustainability should not be a privilege but a right for all, enabling people to live responsibly without financial or social disadvantages.
As we mark World Consumer Rights Day 2024, this campaign serves as a reminder that well-defined standards play a crucial role in empowering consumers, guiding industries, and fostering a sustainable future for generations to come.
