“As ANEC celebrates its 30th anniversary, it is with great pleasure and profound respect that we would like to extend, on behalf of the European Disability Forum and all our members, our deepest gratitude for the very close cooperation during all these years, and for raising the voice of consumers with disabilities in standardisation.
Standardisation is a complex world for disability organisations and persons with disabilities. However, we know too well that standards are paramount to achieve an accessible and inclusive society. This is why the joint work EDF and ANEC have carried out together, particularly in policies and standards related to accessibility and design for all, is absolutely crucial. The standardisation world is less frightening if we have ANEC and ANEC members by our side.

This close working relationship has been instrumental in driving positive change for example, legislation such as the Web Accessibility Directive or the European Accessibility Act, and key accessibility standards such as EN 301 549 on ICT accessibility, EN 17210 on accessibility of the built environment, and EN 17161 on Design for All.
Together we advocate towards the EU institutions and the European Standardisation Organisations to ensure that accessibility is not just an afterthought but a fundamental principle that should be embedded in every standard developed.
