
Sorin Mierlea , President of InfoCons Consumer Protection , is participating in the Economics & Statistics Working Group Meeting of the EUIPO Observatory
On November 26, 2025, Mr. Sorin Mierlea, the President of InfoCons, is attending the Economics & Statistics Working Group Meeting of the Observatory – European Office for Intellectual Property – EUIPO. The meeting, organized by EUIPO, is being held online and will cover various topics related to Intellectual Property.
InfoCons is an active member of the EUIPO (European Union Intellectual Property Office) Observatory, playing a role e in the Civil Society Working Group within the European Observatory on Infringements of Intellectual Property Rights. This involvement underscores InfoCons‘ commitment to addressing the challenges posed by intellectual property infringements across Europe.
At the national level, InfoCons has been a member since 2006 in the Working Group on Intellectual Property Issues under the coordination of the Prosecutor’s Office near the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

10:15–10:45 — EUIPO–OECD study on counterfeiting and abusive labour practices
Joint study providing quantitative evidence linking abusive labour practices to counterfeit exports.
10:45–11:15 — EUIPO–EPO study on innovation in European sectors
Part update of the 2022 IP contribution study and part new research on innovation and IP-intensity across EU sectors.
Results available and will be presented.
11:15–11:30 — Coffee Break
11:30–11:55 — Update on foresight and scenario planning
EUIPO (with JRC cooperation) is developing scenarios for how the IP system in Europe may evolve by 2045.
Outcome of the workshop held 10–11 November in Brussels will be shared.
11:55–12:25 — Updated statistics on digital infringement in the EU
Updated data on access to websites/apps offering pirated films, TV, music, software, e-books, live events (up to Dec 2024).
12:25–13:05 — Terms of reference for the study on design
Presentation and discussion of the new study on the role of design in the EU economy, innovation, competitiveness, and consumer decisions.
13:05–13:30 — AOB and wrap-up
