World Intellectual Property Day 2026

The Theme of World Intellectual Property Day 2026 is “Choose Original, Choose Safe! Ready, Set, Innovate!” – InfoCons informs you as an Observer Member of WIPO / OMPI and a Member Organization of EUIPO

Every year, on April 26, the international community marks World Intellectual Property Day, an opportunity to highlight the important role of intellectual property rights in fostering creativity, innovation, and economic development.

World Intellectual Property Day 2026 brings to the forefront the connection between intellectual property and sport through the theme: “Choose Original, Choose Safe! Ready, Set, Innovate!” . The theme highlights how patents, trademarks, designs, and copyrights support athletic performance, technological progress, and consumer safety.

Modern sport represents a complex ecosystem at the intersection of technology, fashion, health, entertainment, media, and consumer goods. From innovative sports equipment and cutting-edge materials to globally recognized brands and iconic designs, intellectual property is the key element sustaining this dynamic environment.

Ready, Set, Innovate!”, emphasizing the importance of choosing original, compliant, and safe products, especially in the field of sport.

Safer Products – A Priority for World Intellectual Property Day 2026 and for World Consumer Rights Day

In addition, on March 15, 2026, World Consumer Rights Day is marked under the theme “Safer Products – Confident Consumers”, which highlights the role of product safety in building and maintaining consumer trust in an increasingly digitalized global market.

The two themes, product safety from the perspective of intellectual property and consumer protection, are closely interconnected. Counterfeit and non-compliant products not only infringe intellectual property rights, but may also pose real risks to consumer health and safety, while negatively impacting innovation and the economy.
