A Representative of InfoCons Consumer Protection is Participating in the Consumers International Meeting on Energy Equity
Today, June 18, 2026, an InfoCons representative is participating in the meeting organized by Consumers International, held via the Zoom online platform, focusing on energy equity.
As energy poverty affects billions of people worldwide and consumer vulnerability is intensified by rising costs, climate pressures, and digital transformation, the need for more inclusive energy services has never been more urgent. This session marks the launch of the report “Blueprint for Inclusive Energy Services: Recommendations for the Italian Marketplace”, the first publication within Consumers International’s global initiative aimed at supporting the development of fairer and more inclusive energy systems.
Using Italy’s ageing population as a case study, the webinar examines how energy providers, policymakers, and civil society organizations can more effectively support consumers in vulnerable circumstances. In Italy, approximately 2.4 million households experience energy poverty, with older consumers being disproportionately affected. Furthermore, low incomes, health conditions, digital barriers, and social isolation can make it even more challenging to cope with rising energy costs.
