How Artificial Intelligence Influences Your Emotions and Decisions Online – InfoCons Consumer Protection in Cybersecurity informs you !
Every day, artificial intelligence based recommendation systems decide which videos you watch, which posts appear in your feed, and which products are suggested to you.
Artificial intelligence can analyze facial expressions by detecting subtle emotions. It then adapts content to trigger quick reactions, such as loyalty, anger, disappointment, or the impulse to buy.
It can generate convincing texts, deepfake videos, or voices identical to those of real people. You may receive messages from a relative or your manager that appear authentic. In reality, artificial intelligence may have created them entirely.
Recommendation systems are present in almost every digital interaction. They analyze your search history, viewing time, likes, or comments. They even analyze the time of day or the device you use.
They create a behavioral profile and predict what attracts you or what annoys you. Then, as mentioned earlier, they decide what you see in your feed.
The feed is not chronological. It is optimized for your attention.
If you watch content about nature, you may start receiving travel offers. If you interact with a controversial topic, you may be flooded with content of questionable quality or reliability.
Through repeated exposure, AI shapes your digital habits. You may start believing that your decisions are entirely your own, without noticing the algorithmic influences behind them.
Use digital platforms consciously and set time limits. Actively look for alternative verified and trustworthy sources, and continuously ask yourself whether someone else, besides you, has chosen what you are seeing.
Digital education begins with understanding technology.
