In a market where products circulate rapidly between countries and online commerce enables consumers to purchase from traders located anywhere in the world, access to information about non-compliant products is becoming increasingly important.

For this reason, the Alerts for Non-Compliant Non-Food Products section of the InfoCons Solution is a practical information and prevention tool. Consumers can check which products are subject to an Alert, find out what risk has been identified and consult the available information before purchasing or using that product.

What information can you find in the Alerts section of the InfoCons Solution?

For each non-compliant product listed in Alerts, consumers can consult information such as:

product name;
country concerned;
risk level;
country of origin;
date on which the Alert takes effect;
image of the product subject to the Alert.

This information can help consumers more easily identify a product they already own or intend to purchase.

Through the PREMIUM features, InfoCons Supporting Members can search Alerts according to criteria such as the sales platform, brand, product type or category. This enables relevant information to be identified more quickly, depending on the product being searched for.

The InfoCons Solution also allows users to scan the barcodes of certain products to check whether they are subject to a non-compliance Alert. The information and images associated with an Alert can also be shared so that other people can be informed about the identified risk.

2,552 Alerts in the InfoCons Consumer Protection Solution Since the Beginning of the Year

Since the beginning of 2026, 2,552 Alerts concerning non-compliant non-food products have been recorded in the InfoCons Solution. Of these, approximately 95.73% were classified as posing a serious risk, while 4.27% had other risk levels.

Non-compliance does not affect only one category of products. Alerts include cosmetics, toys, electrical appliances and equipment, motor vehicles, chemical products, childcare articles, clothing, jewellery, furniture, pyrotechnic articles, protective equipment and many other products used in everyday life.

More Than Half of the Alerts Concern Cosmetics, Toys and Electrical Equipment

The top three product categories, according to their share of the total number of Alerts during the analysed period, are:

cosmetics – 19.71%;
toys – 19.08%;
electrical appliances and equipment – 16.46%.

Together, these three categories account for approximately 55.25% of all Alerts recorded between 1 January and 8 September 2026.

What Are the Most Common Types of Risk?

A non-compliant product may pose a single risk or several risks simultaneously. Therefore, the percentages corresponding to the different types of risk should not be added together to obtain 100%.

The three most common types of risk identified in Alerts were:

chemical risk – 35.66%;
risk of injuries – 17.55%;
choking risk caused by swallowing or inhaling components – 13.79%.

What Are the Main Countries of Origin of Products Listed in Alerts?

The top three known countries of origin, according to their share of products listed in Alerts, are:

People’s Republic of China – 56.31%;
Italy – 5.80%;
France – 5.05%.

Until 15 September 2026, individuals can become InfoCons Supporting Members and benefit from a 50% discount on the annual membership fee.
