Sorin Mierlea, President of InfoCons, continues his participation today, 9 September 2026, in the events organised in Brussels as part of International Product Safety Week 2026.
The third day of the international event focuses on child safety, visions for product safety through to 2035, and the cooperation needed to turn shared ambitions into tangible outcomes for consumers. The ICPHSO International Symposium begins in the afternoon.
International Product Safety Week 2026 takes place from 7 to 10 September 2026 and marks 20 years of international cooperation in the field of product safety. The event brings together representatives of public authorities, consumer protection organisations, international institutions, academia and the business community.
The participation of the President of InfoCons in the Brussels events helps represent consumers’ interests in international discussions on risk prevention, market surveillance and access to product safety information.
Opening of the third day
The programme for 9 September 2026 begins with “Welcome Coffee and Registration”, from 08:00 to 09:00, followed by “Opening Address Day 3”, from 09:00 to 09:30.
The opening introduces a day dedicated to protecting vulnerable consumers and exploring the future of product safety internationally.

Child safety in a changing world
From 09:30 to 10:30, the session “Advancing Child Safety in a Changing World” examines the increasingly complex risks children face, ranging from unsafe consumer products to harmful online practices.
Discussions explore responses to these challenges through updated toy safety rules, enhanced oversight of childcare products and products that appeal to children, and measures to strengthen protection in the digital environment.
The session considers opportunities for innovation and cooperation alongside effective enforcement. These approaches seek to reduce risks and adapt protection mechanisms to the ways children use products and interact with the digital environment.
A “Coffee break” follows from 10:30 to 11:00.
Visions for 2035 and global product safety
The programme continues from 11:00 to 12:00 with “What Comes Next: Visions for 2035 – Delivering Global Product Safety in Practice”, organised in cooperation with Consumers International.
The session focuses on the future of product safety across global markets and brings together perspectives from different stakeholders involved in protecting consumers.
Discussions explore how business practices, enforcement, market surveillance and shared practical experience can turn product safety ambitions into tangible outcomes worldwide.
For consumer protection organisations, this dialogue provides an opportunity to express consumers’ needs and discuss solutions suited to a market in which products move rapidly across countries and regions.
Closing of the conference and continuation of the international programme
The “Closing Session” is scheduled from 12:00 to 12:30, followed by a “Lunch break” from 12:30 to 14:00.

First day of the ICPHSO International Symposium
From 14:00 to 18:30, the agenda features “ICPHSO International Symposium – Day 1”, the first day of the symposium of the International Consumer Product Health and Safety Organization – ICPHSO.
The symposium continues the international dialogue on consumer product health and safety. Its programme spans two days, continuing on 10 September 2026.
According to the agenda, attendance at the ICPHSO International Symposium is subject to specific conditions and registration requirements.
