InfoCons Representative Participates in the 53rd Session of the WIPO Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore

An InfoCons representative is participating in the Fifty-Third Session of the Intergovernmental Committee on Intellectual Property and Genetic Resources, Traditional Knowledge and Folklore, held at the World Intellectual Property Organization – WIPO in Geneva, from 16 to 25 September 2026.

The session brings together representatives of Member States, international organisations, Indigenous Peoples and local communities, as well as other organisations interested in the protection of intellectual property, traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.

According to the agenda, the meeting addresses topics related to:

  • the participation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities;
  • the positive and defensive protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions through intellectual property;
  • traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions;
  • genetic resources.

The programme also includes a panel involving Indigenous Peoples and local communities, as well as an information-sharing session on the protection of traditional knowledge and traditional cultural expressions.

The participation of the InfoCons representative in this international meeting is part of the organisation’s work to follow developments in the field of intellectual property and represent consumers’ interests at the international level.
