Sorin Mierlea , President of InfoCons , is attending the ANEC Meeting on the Role of Standards in the Transition to Clean Energy

Sorin Mierlea, President of InfoCons, is participating on 12 October 2026 in the online meeting “Powering a Sustainable Future: The Role of Standards in Clean Energy”, jointly organised by ANEC, CEN-CENELEC and ECOS on the occasion of World Standards Day 2026.

The event will take place between 14:00 and 15:00 and is organised in line with this year’s World Standards Day theme: “Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy.”

The meeting will explore how standards can support the transition towards affordable, clean and sustainable energy while helping to protect consumers and the environment.

The main topics to be addressed include:

  • the role of Ecodesign standards;
  • Energy Labelling for consumer products;
  • the energy efficiency of buildings;
  • Energy Management Systems standards;
  • the contribution of standardisation to achieving clean-energy and sustainability objectives;
  • civil society participation in the development of standards.

An important part of the discussions will focus on the involvement of consumer and environmental organisations in standardisation. Civil society participation helps ensure that consumer and environmental interests are integrated into the development of balanced, relevant standards adapted to current needs.

The meeting will feature contributions from:

  • Ana Alfredo, Project Manager – Technical Engagement, CEN-CENELEC;
  • Isabel Lopez-Neira, Programme Manager – Resource Efficiency & Mobility, ANEC;
  • Luka de Bruyckere, Senior Programme Manager, ECOS.

ANEC will be represented by Isabel Lopez-Neira, who will bring the consumer perspective to the discussion on the role of standards in the energy transition and in the development of more efficient and sustainable products and services.

The event is aimed at consumer and environmental organisations, civil society organisations, standardisation experts, policymakers, industry representatives and other stakeholders interested in clean energy, sustainability and standardisation.

The participation of the President of InfoCons in this meeting forms part of the organisation’s work to represent and promote consumer interests in standardisation processes, including through InfoCons’ involvement in ANEC – The European Consumer Voice in Standardisation.
