What's New in the InfoCons App for Black Friday 2026 ? Check Before You Buy !
For Black Friday 2026, InfoCons stands by consumers with a major update to the InfoCons Consumer Protection App, adding new tools that make it easier to check products and shop safely and with full information.
During the sales season — when online shopping surges and interest in electronics and home appliances peaks — consumers should pay close attention not only to the advertised prices, but above all to the safety and compliance of the products they buy.
The new InfoCons App update brings two important improvements to the Alerts section, together with the Electronics and Home-Appliance Comparator — a genuinely useful tool during Black Friday 2026.
1. Viewing and sharing Alerts for non-food products
Consumers can now zoom in on the images of the products flagged in Alerts, so they can study the details more closely, more easily recognise non-compliant or dangerous items, and save those images for later checks — including reverse image searches on engines such as Google, starting from the product photo shown in the Alert.
In addition, a dedicated Share button lets users quickly and simply pass information about the products concerned to family, friends and others close to them, helping to spread awareness and prevent the purchase of items that may pose risks to health and safety.
2. Alerts extended to 15 new OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development) countries
InfoCons is broadening access to Alerts for non-food products. Alongside the European Union Member States and Türkiye, consumers can now also consult Alerts for risk products from a further 15 OECD countries: Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, South Korea, Costa Rica, Switzerland, Iceland, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Norway, New Zealand, the United Kingdom and the United States.
This new feature is especially valuable during Black Friday 2026, when many consumers buy from international e-commerce platforms. It also supports those who travel or live abroad, giving them easy access — in 33 languages — to information on non-compliant or dangerous products flagged on international markets.
3. The Electronics and Home-Appliance Comparator — Choose wisely this Black Friday 2026 !
With so many discounts on electronics and home appliances, the InfoCons App lets consumers compare up to 10 products at the same time by scanning the QR code on the energy-efficiency label, and assess each one independently and transparently.
In this way, consumers can line up relevant information on mobile phones, televisions, refrigerators, washing machines, tyres and other products that carry an energy-efficiency label, to identify the options that best fit their needs — taking into account energy efficiency and long-term running costs as well.
InfoCons encourages consumers to check products before buying, to consult and share the Alerts on non-compliant, risky products, and to compare product features independently and transparently — so that the Black Friday 2026 discounts are not accompanied by risks to their safety.
This Black Friday 2026, check what you buy! Choose wisely with the InfoCons Consumer Protection App !
