Key points from the DIN Consumer Council‘s study, which will be discussed during the webinar, include:
- Many consumers feel uninformed about the reasons behind the introduction of tethered caps.
- Consumers see little to no environmental benefit from the use of tethered caps.
- The specific needs of consumers regarding tethered caps have not been adequately addressed by the Single-Use Plastics Directive, the relevant standards (DIN EN 17665), or the packaging industry.
- Certain vulnerable consumer groups experience significant difficulties handling plastic bottles and beverage containers with tethered caps.
- The design of tethered caps requires further improvement to enhance usability.
