This past year has seen significant progress and developments that will greatly enhance the certification of bio-based products. During the meeting, all participants will be informed about the Biomass Utilisation Factor, a new metric combining cascading use and production efficiency into one indicator to investigate the circularity of materials for the circular bioeconomy.
BioReCer strengthens certification schemes to boost the acceptance of bio-based feedstock and products from biological waste, both by industry and consumers, and to enhance the competitiveness of Europe’s bio-based economy. The goal is to address the needs of all stakeholders across the bio-based product value chain. To succeed, the project depends on the input and collaboration of a broad range of stakeholders, including producers and processors of bio-based feedstock, bio-based industries, certification bodies, policy makers, scientists, consumers and their associations.
