Sorin Mierlea , President of InfoCons Consumers Protection , represented Romania at the European Consumer Summit 2025
On May 20, 2025, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers hosted the European Consumer Summit in Brussels, Belgium, under the theme “A better future for consumers and competitiveness.” Representing Romania at this event was Sorin Mierlea , President of InfoCons .
The Summit took place against the backdrop of a world undergoing rapid change, shaped by digital innovation, the expansion of e-commerce, and the emergence of new technologies. These forces continue to redefine consumer behavior, presenting both opportunities and new challenges in ensuring consumer protection.
In his discussions with European officials during the Summit, Mr. Sorin Mierlea , President of InfoCons , underscored the shared responsibility of EU member states in safeguarding consumer rights. He also reaffirmed Romania’s dedication to upholding European values and strengthening collaborative efforts to support and empower consumers across the continent.
