“I almost have to pinch myself when I realize that it is 30 years since the enormous step was taken to establish a new European Consumer Organization: ANEC. It is remarkable that the model which was established all those years ago continues to serve ANEC so well and, in the sincerest form of flattery, has been adopted by other stakeholders as they strive to make their voices also heard in the development of European standards.
ANEC recognized from the beginning the vital importance for consumers of the environment, information and communications technology, accessibility and, of course, the safety and utility of the products and services that we all use daily. I look forward to seeing ANEC deliver in respect of the future challenges of AI, and hope to see even more international collaboration in the future with partners outside Europe in this and other important fields – climate change and accessibility in particular.
