Protein Bars Can Contain Up to 17 Food Additives – InfoCons Consumers Protection Study

InfoCons carried out a study based on the information found on the labels of 41 protein bar products from Europe, from producers / distributors present on the Romanian market.

The analysis shows that protein bars may contain between 1 and 17 food additives (E-numbers), including sweeteners, emulsifiers, stabilisers, colourants and preservatives. While some additives are commonly used to improve texture, shelf life or taste, their number and frequency vary significantly from one product to another.
Consumers are encouraged to carefully read labels, compare products and make informed choices, especially when selecting foods perceived as “healthy” or “functional”. Stay informed and choose responsibly with InfoCons Consumer Protection.
