The European InfoCons App helps you stay safe on the European 112 Day !
The European 112 Emergency Number Day is celebrated every year on February 11 and highlights the essential role of a unified rapid-response mechanism in emergency situations, operational across all 27 member states of the European Union.
The single emergency number 112 was created to facilitate citizens’ immediate access to emergency services (Ambulance, Police, Firefighters, Gendarmerie, and Mountain Rescue), providing prompt assistance in cases that endanger life, health, or public safety.
On the occasion of the European 112 Emergency Number Day, InfoCons makes available to all citizens, in their capacity as consumers, the European InfoCons App, unique worldwide, which centralizes useful information for the general public in one place.
An important feature of the App is the SOS section, which is available even in offline mode, without requiring an internet connection. Through this functionality, consumers can access both national and international emergency numbers and can call them directly, at no additional cost, using the InfoCons App. This option is extremely useful in situations where internet access is limited or unavailable, either due to high costs or the lack of a functional network.
The SOS section of the European InfoCons App brings together over 2,200 emergency numbers, ensuring rapid access to the institutions responsible for managing various critical situations. These include:
- The 112 emergency service, for situations requiring immediate intervention;
- Consumer Protection, where you can request assistance if you encounter problems with purchased products or services;
- The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority, available for reports concerning food safety;
- Contact numbers for county-level institutions, such as City Hall, Local Police, Environmental Guard, Environmental Protection Agency, Veterinary Public Health Directorate, Romanian Auto Registry, Territorial Labor Inspectorate, and the Public Health Directorate.
In recent years, responsibility in the use of the 112 emergency number has increased significantly. Statistical data indicate that more than half of the calls made recently represented real emergencies, marking the highest percentage since the service was introduced in Romania.
This positive trend reflects a higher level of awareness regarding the importance of responsible use of the 112 number, thereby contributing to the efficient allocation of resources to truly urgent cases. Since its European-wide implementation in 1991 and up to the present, the 112 number has become a symbol of citizens’ safety, being available free of charge from any landline or mobile phone, anywhere in the European Union.
