VISARTA is a Romanian non-profit collective management organization operating under private law, established in accordance with Law no. 8/1996 on copyright and related rights. It has been active since 1999, following authorization by the Romanian Copyright Office (ORDA).
VISARTA represents and manages the economic rights of authors in the field of visual arts, ensuring the collection and distribution of remuneration arising from the use of their works.

The organization represents authors both nationally and internationally, acting through a network of sister societies based on reciprocal representation agreements. VISARTA also manages rights for foreign authors who are members of partner societies and issues licenses for the use of their works in Romania.
VISARTA’s repertoire covers a wide range of visual arts disciplines, including painting, graphic art, sculpture, engraving, lithography, monumental and applied art, scenography, tapestry, ceramics, glass and metal art, photographic works, digital and video image processing, architecture (including plans and models), as well as maps and scientific drawings.
On behalf of its members and represented authors, VISARTA manages economic rights related to reproduction, distribution, public exhibition, public communication, broadcasting, online transmission, secondary use, resale rights, and other forms of exploitation, in accordance with national and international legislation.

VISARTA operates in compliance with the principle of equal treatment and protects authors’ rights either by operation of law or on the basis of mandates granted by authors or their heirs.
As part of the international network of copyright collective management organizations affiliated with CISAC, VISARTA has concluded reciprocal representation agreements with 27 sister societies worldwide, representing over 100,000 Romanian and foreign visual artists. The organization continues to expand its international partnerships to strengthen global protection of visual artists’ rights.
In addition, VISARTA actively cooperates with national, European, and international institutions and professional bodies, including ORDA, IFFRO, WIPO, EVA, and others, contributing to legislative development, policy dialogue, and best practices in the field of copyright, while continuously adapting to technological and market evolution.
