More and more people are falling victim to a type of fraud that can sometimes be difficult to detect.

We are talking about spoofing, one of the most dangerous techniques used by cybercriminals.

Spoofing involves identity impersonation. Attackers pretend to be other people, banks, public institutions, or well-known private companies, both online and over the phone.

You may receive a call that appears to come “directly from your bank”. A calm but urgent voice tells you there is a problem with your account and asks for security codes or confidential information.

Everything seems authentic, but the reality is completely different. If you provide personal information, it will go straight to the attackers.

The same strategy is used through carefully crafted messages or emails that imitate official communication.

A single click on a fake link can compromise accounts, personal data, and even your life savings.

These attacks are not only technical, they are mainly psychological. They exploit trust, urgency, and human instinctive reactions.

That is why attackers often use an alarming tone designed to make you act quickly without verifying the information.

You can protect yourself by never sharing passwords, security codes, or banking information by phone or email, and by verifying the source before responding. Banks never request confidential information of this kind!

Do not give others access to your devices!

Contact the institution directly using official communication channels. If something seems suspicious, stop, do not respond, and report it.

Awareness and knowledge remain the strongest weapons against online fraud.

In the digital world, identity can be falsified, but vigilance cannot.
