This is the most significant and, at the same time, the only event of its kind dedicated to bringing Romanian education closer to young Romanians living in the diaspora.
Event Details
Event: ProEduHub – United Through Education Event
Date: Monday, 13 July 2026
Time: 6:00 PM (London Time) / 8:00 PM (Romania Time)
Venue: Embassy of Romania in London – Arundel House, 4 Palace Green, Kensington, London W8 4QD
A Landmark Moment for the Romanian Diaspora
The London event represents the centerpiece of the ProEduHub project, the first initiative launched by InfoCons specifically dedicated to helping young Romanians in the diaspora reconnect with educational opportunities in Romania. Under the slogan “United Through Education,” Romanian education is being brought, for the first time on such a scale, directly into the heart of the Romanian community in the United Kingdom—one of the largest Romanian communities in Europe.
In this distinguished institutional setting, young Romanians and their families have the opportunity to meet face-to-face with representatives of Romania’s academic and institutional sectors and to learn firsthand about the educational, career guidance, and professional opportunities available to them in their home country. The event creates an open dialogue where questions receive practical answers, enabling participants to make informed decisions about their educational future based on reliable information.
Why This Event Matters
Institutional estimates indicate that between 5.7 and 6.5 million Romanians currently live abroad, while international estimates suggest that between 30,000 and 50,000 Romanian students are pursuing higher education overseas, with a significant proportion choosing to remain abroad after completing their studies. At the same time, Romania ranks among the European Union countries with the lowest proportion of higher education graduates—approximately 23% of people aged 25 to 34, compared to the EU target of 45% by 2030.
Against this backdrop, ProEduHub offers a genuine alternative for young people who wish to reconnect with Romania. The London event transforms the project’s online objectives into a real-life meeting, conveying the message that returning home and pursuing higher education in Romania is not a compromise, but rather an opportunity to study at competitive institutions offering high-quality academic programs and meaningful prospects for professional development.
The Objectives of ProEduHub
Through the London event and the project as a whole, ProEduHub aims to:
- bring the educational opportunities offered by Romanian universities closer to young Romanians in the diaspora by providing centralized and reliable information;
- facilitate access to higher education and technical education in Romania through guidance during the information, orientation, and application process;
- build bridges between young people, universities, and the business community through internships, practical training opportunities, and private scholarships;
- provide a clear and predictable framework for those considering returning to Romania;
- strengthen the connection between Romania and Romanian communities abroad under the call to action “Come Home!”
InfoCons and USVT: Partners in the Project
At the event, InfoCons is represented by its President, Mr. Sorin Mierlea, while the “King Mihai I” University of Life Sciences from Timișoara (USVT) is represented, among others, by its Rector, Professor Cosmin Alin Popescu.
The partnership between the two institutions combines the experience of a national consumer protection organization with an extensive track record in education and public awareness, together with the academic expertise of a university that has recently gained international recognition for its achievements in research and innovation.
This collaboration between the civil society sector and academia demonstrates to young Romanians living abroad that Romania is home to universities of excellence, competitive on a global scale, which deserve serious consideration when planning their educational and professional future.
Host: Embassy of Romania in London
The event is hosted by the Embassy of Romania to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, located at Arundel House, 4 Palace Green, Kensington, London.
The diplomatic mission is headed by Ambassador Laura Popescu, a career diplomat who has served as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Romania to the United Kingdom since 2021.
The Embassy of Romania in London serves as a vital institution for the Romanian community in the United Kingdom, whose significant presence has made London one of the most important centers for Romanians living abroad.
Hosting this ProEduHub event at the Embassy highlights both the institutional importance of the initiative and the Embassy’s support for projects that strengthen the connection between young Romanians living abroad and their country of origin.
Building a Lasting Connection Between Romania and Future Generations
Through ProEduHub, InfoCons and USVT reaffirm their shared commitment to promoting access to education, social inclusion, and the development of human capital.
This evening’s event in London provides tangible proof that Romanian education can be brought directly to where young people are—and that the journey back home can begin with a simple meeting, accurate information, and a helping hand. It is another meaningful step toward giving substance to the message “Come Home!”, transforming it into a long-term initiative built step by step alongside trusted partners.
