Sorin Mierlea, President of the InfoCons Association, is attending today, 25 July 2026, the Community Reception organized by the Embassy of India in Romania, together with Voice of India NGO Romania, on the occasion of the State Visit of Her Excellency Droupadi Murmu, President of the Republic of India, to Romania.
The reception, hosted at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel, brings together members of the Indian community in Romania, representatives of the diplomatic corps, public authorities, academia, civil society, the business community, and friends of India.
The event features a cultural programme, the official address of the President of India, an opportunity for interaction with members of the Indian community, followed by an official luncheon. Attendance is by invitation only.
A Landmark State Visit for Romania–India Relations
The State Visit of President Droupadi Murmu to Romania marks an important milestone in the bilateral relations between the two countries. It represents the first State Visit by an Indian President to Romania in more than three decades, reaffirming the shared commitment of both nations to strengthening political dialogue and expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
During the official meetings, the Presidents of Romania and India are expected to discuss opportunities for enhanced collaboration in areas including trade, investment, digitalisation, information technology, agriculture, education, scientific research, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, further consolidating the strategic partnership between the two countries.

Who Is Droupadi Murmu?
Droupadi Murmu has served as the 15th President of the Republic of India since 2022. Her election marked a historic moment, as she became the first person from India’s tribal communities to hold the country’s highest constitutional office, as well as one of the most influential women in contemporary Indian public life.
Before assuming the presidency, she served as Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021, becoming the first woman to hold that position. Earlier in her career, she was a member of the Odisha Legislative Assembly and served as a minister in the Government of Odisha. Throughout her public service, she has been recognised for her commitment to social inclusion, education, sustainable development, and citizen-centred governance.
