InfoCons Consumers Protection Study : Up to 13 Food Additives and 40 g of Sugars per 100 g of Cake-Type Products – Prevention Starts with Information

 

InfoCons conducted a study based on the information found on the labels of 30 cake-type products from Europe, produced by various manufacturers/distributors present on the Romanian market.

As a result of collecting and analysing the information displayed on product labels, the following findings were identified:

Food Additives Identified in the Cakes Included in the InfoCons Consumer Protection Study

  • 100% of the products contained E-numbers (food additives)
  • The number of food additives ranged between 5 and 13
    • 13.33% of the products contained 13 E-numbers
    • 10% of the products contained 12 E-numbers
    • 23.33% of the products contained 11 E-numbers
    • 6.67% of the products contained 9 E-numbers
    • 20% of the products contained 8 E-numbers
    • 6.67% of the products contained 7 E-numbers
    • 6.67% of the products contained 6 E-numbers
    • 13.33% of the products contained 5 E-numbers
