Today, December 10, marks International Human Rights Day. On December 10, 1948, in Paris, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights through Resolution no. 217 A (III). The Declaration stipulates that all people are born with equal and inalienable rights as well as fundamental freedoms.
Through Resolution 423 (V) in 1950, the UN General Assembly invited all states and interested organizations to celebrate December 10 as “International Human Rights Day,” urging all UN member states to promote and ensure the effective recognition and observance of human rights and freedoms.
