InfoCons Consumer Protection Re-elected as Member of the Consumer Policy Advisory Group – CPAG
InfoCons , represented by its President Mr. Sorin Mierlea , has been re-elected as a member of the Consumer Policy Advisory Group (CPAG), thus strengthening Romania’s active role in shaping and implementing European consumer protection policies.
This expert group, established by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Justice and Consumers (DG JUST), serves as the Commission’s main forum for consulting national and European stakeholders on consumer policy matters. CPAG brings together representatives of consumer organizations, civil society, and the business sector, and currently consists of 42 members, with Romania represented by InfoCons.
Within a new partnership model between the European Commission, Member States, and other relevant stakeholders, CPAG plays an advisory role by providing expertise on both the implementation and monitoring of the European Consumer Agenda. The group complements the work of other key bodies, such as the Consumer Protection Cooperation (CPC) Network and the Consumer Policy Network (CPN), and succeeds the European Consumers Consultative Group (ECCG), whose mandate ended in July 2019.

The Consumer Agenda 2030 represents the European Commission’s strategic vision for consumer policy. Adopted on 19 November 2025, it sets out concrete priorities and actions for the next five years, addressing current challenges and reflecting the cross-cutting nature of consumer protection. Its main objective is to strengthen consumer protection while fostering competitiveness, social fairness, and sustainable growth.
Building on the achievements of the New Consumer Agenda adopted in 2020, the 2030 Agenda outlines four key priority areas:
- An Action Plan for consumers in the Single Market, aimed at removing barriers that prevent consumers from fully benefiting from the Single Market;
- Digital fairness and online consumer protection, with a focus on strengthening consumer safety in the digital environment, especially for children;
- Sustainable consumption, ensuring access to sustainable products and services and addressing practices such as greenwashing;
- Effective enforcement and redress, protecting consumers from non-compliant market players and ensuring fair competition for businesses that follow the rules.

Across all areas, the Agenda places particular emphasis on protecting consumers in vulnerable situations, as well as on simplification and the reduction of administrative burdens. The implementation of these actions will be supported by active international cooperation and an inclusive, transparent, and dynamic governance framework.
The re-election of InfoCons within CPAG confirms the organization’s continued commitment to promoting consumer rights and its active contribution to the development of European consumer policies.
