
Today, March 11, 2025, the representatives of InfoCons are attending the meeting on food waste at the Consumers International Summit, organized on the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day.
Hosted on Zoom, this session – organized by Consumers International – will bring together leading voices to explore how food waste is continuously increasing at an alarming rate.

The discussions will focus on how food waste represents a critical environmental failure, significantly contributing to climate change and biodiversity loss. It is also a humanitarian crisis that worsens hunger and malnutrition, as well as a market failure, costing the global economy over $1 trillion annually.
According to the United Nations Environment Programme, 60% of food waste occurs at the household level, while the remaining 40% happens in food service and retail.

A key topic will be exploring swift and effective solutions to tackle the growing food waste challenge while engaging consumers and fostering collaboration between consumer advocates, businesses, and policymakers.
