Be a European SuperConsumer ! Over 290 Alerts for Risky Products from Mercosur Countries , on Europe Day !

In the context of strengthening European mechanisms regarding product safety and consumer information, as well as on the occasion of Europe Day, InfoCons continues the development of initiatives dedicated to market monitoring and alerts concerning risky products. One week after the launch of the Interdisciplinary Action Group dedicated to monitoring and implementing the EU–Mercosur Agreement, InfoCons presents information regarding this initiative addressed to consumers, public institutions, and the private sector involved in acquisition, commercialization, and resale processes.

The Action Group aims to monitor acquisition and import flows between the two markets through the InfoCons Consumer Protection Passport for the European Union and Mercosur countries, a digital instrument dedicated to consumer protection and market safety through the ALERTS section.

ATTENTION ! Over 290 Alerts regarding risky food and non-food products originating from Mercosur states can be found within the InfoCons European Consumer Protection Solution !

The available Alerts target a wide range of product categories, both food and non-food, identified within the European Alert System as presenting different types of risks for consumers.

Among the reported product categories are: cosmetic products, motor vehicles, clothing, textiles and fashion items, cereals and pastry products, fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices, meat and meat products, fish and fish products, ice cream and desserts, as well as pet food.

Through the InfoCons European Consumer Protection Solution, consumers can quickly verify information regarding alerted products and the associated types of risks, thus contributing to increasing the level of information and safety during the purchasing and consumption process.

The ALERTS section centralizes information regarding dangerous and non-compliant products identified by competent public authorities, thus contributing to the prevention of incidents and to increasing the level of information and awareness among both consumers and economic operators from the Member States of the European Union, Mercosur trade bloc countries, and Türkiye.

Products identified within the European Alert System are prohibited from being marketed due to their high degree of risk and danger.

Through the InfoCons European Consumer Protection Solution, consumers can verify, within the ALERTS section and through the “Search” bar, products that have been subject to Alert notifications by entering the product brand name.

At the same time, consumers can verify whether a non-food product is subject to a non-compliance Alert simply by scanning the barcode found on the product packaging or label.
