InfoCons has signed a Letter of Intent with the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center ( SELEC )

Bucharest, July 29, 2024: The Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) and InfoCons – European Organization forConsumer Protection, join efforts in combating infringements of intellectual property rights

The Letter of Intent between the two institutions was signed on July 29, 2024, by the Director General of the Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC), Dr. Oğuz Serkant Akın, and the President of InfoCons , Mr. Sorin Mierlea .

This document sets the framework for collaboration in the areas of mutual interest, for exploring appropriate and effective practices aimed at strengthening both parties’ efforts to combat counterfeit products in the SELEC Member States, for raising awareness and discourage violations of Intellectual Property Laws, and for developing and implementing joint projects and/or programmes.

The Southeast European Law Enforcement Center (SELEC) is a treaty-based international law enforcement organization that brings together the resources and expertise of Police and Customs authorities in fighting against cross-border organized crime in Southeast Europe. In its continuous efforts to support its Member States, SELEC provides multinational expertise to law enforcement authorities across the Southeast European region. This includes, among others, offering a platform for exchanging information and requests for assistance, supporting operational meetings, joint investigations, and regional operations, as well as delivering high-quality analytical products.

InfoCons – European Organization for Consumer Protection – was founded in 2003 to meet the needs of consumers. To date, it has carried out and continues to carry out uninterrupted activity, enjoying national and international recognition, being a member of various organizations, advisory commissions of authorities, working groups, and a partner in national and international programs. InfoCons is the only organization in Romania with full rights in Consumers International and a founding member of the Federation of Consumer Associations.
